Her cousin said she was put in hospital to have surgery for thrombosis (blood clotting) in both legs and expressed fears about getting Covid, but her brother doesn't believe she was vaccinated.
'What I know is because she was 39 it (was) still not her age to be able to make a booking for the vaccine, that is all that what I know,' her brother Helio told A Current Affair.

Nobel laureate Peter Doherty predicts Australian politicians reluctant to unwind Covid restrictions

Nobel laureate Peter Doherty is predicting politicians will be reluctant to reopen Australia next year even as vaccination rates surge and people stop dying of Covid.
The immunologist, 80, renowned for discovering the role of T cells in the immune system, said Australians living through lockdowns were conditioned to the zero Covid strategy.
'We will get back to a more normal life next year I expect, but it is going to be difficult politically for the politicians to open up because there will be disease circulating and we are so accustomed to the idea that no virus should circulate,' Professor Doherty told the ABC's 7.30 program.

Sydney records 145 new Covid cases overnight

Sydney has recorded 145 new Covid-19 cases overnight, with 51 people out in the community while infectious.
Premier Gladys Berejiklian told a press conference on Monday morning that the source of the infection for 79 of the new cases is still under investigation.
Fifty-five of the cases are linked to household contacts of known cases, and nine were other close contacts.
Chief Health Officer Dr Kerry Chant said the number of unvaccinated people over the age of 60 is 'distressing' and urged everyone in the age bracket to make an appointment immediately.
'When I review the numbers, to see how few over even 60-year-olds and over 70-year-olds we have managed to reach,' she said.

Berejiklian has once again stressed that people should not leave home and mingle with other households. This remains a challenging aspect of the latest outbreak that has prompted a lockdown that has so far lasted a month.
She said it was important for people not to mingle.
"Can I stress again, it is really important for people not to leave home unless they absolutely have to? And, in particular, do not mingle."
The state carried out more than 98,000 tests in 24 hours.
