ABU DHABI — New COVID-19 cases in the United Arab Emirates remained above the 2,000-mark again on Wednesday for the second consecutive day, with 2,179 new infections recorded over the past 24 hours.
According to the country's health ministry, six more people died from complications caused by COVID-19 over the past 24 hours.
This brings the total number of confirmed infections in the country to 589,423 and virus-related fatalities to 1,710.
The new patients, all of whom are in a stable condition, and are receiving the necessary care, were detected after the ministry conducted 254,412 additional COVID-19 tests over the past 24 hours, using state-of-the-art medical testing equipment, according to the ministry.

ABU DHABI — Foreign Minister of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan discussed on Thursday with his Canadian counterpart, Marc Garneau, relations and cooperation between the two countries and ways to enhance them in their best interests.
During the meeting, held via video conferencing, the two ministers reviewed the situation in the Middle East and the importance of boosting security and stability in the region. They also tackled several regional and global issues of mutual interest.

ABU DHABI — The United Arab Emirates on Thursday recorded 1,401 new coronavirus cases over the past 24 hours, according to a statement from the health ministry.
The ministry announced three more deaths from complications caused by COVID-19 over the past 24 hours.
This brings the total number of confirmed infections in the country to 551,430 and virus-related fatalities to 1,642.
The new patients, all of whom are in a stable condition, and are receiving the necessary care, were detected after the ministry conducted 244,880 additional COVID-19 tests over the past 24 hours, using state-of-the-art medical testing equipment, according to the ministry.
