Amid the rising number of lumpy skin diseases, Prabhu B Chavan, the Minister of Animal Husbandry in the Karnataka government on Thursday assured the farmers and cattle owners that, the government is banning the animal slaughter and transport to combat the situation.

As many as seven suspected cases of the lumpy disease have been found in Shivpuri district of Madhya Pradesh, said Dr MC Tamori, Deputy Director of Animal Department on Wednesday.
Over 100 cows were reported to have died in Madhya Pradesh due to Lumpy Skin Disease in the past few days as the virus has reached 26 out of the state's total 52 districts, officials said.
