On Thursday last week, the U.S. Attorney’s office in Alaska announced that 35-year-old Alfred Morgan of Aniak had been indicted on federal gun charges. An Alaska State Troopers (AST) report from the fall of 2020 states that AST responded to a disturbance in Aniak on September 6 th. When Troopers arrived that afternoon, they were met by Morgan and 32-year-old Andrew John Jr. of Aniak. The report alleges that Morgan presented a semi-automatic rifle and John a knife toward the troopers at the same time. A brief altercation occurred, and both individuals were arrested and taken into custody. At that time, the state charged Morgan with two counts of assault in the 3rd degree, misconduct involving weapons in the 4th degree, resisting arrest, escape in the 2nd degree and theft in the 4th degree. Thursday’s charges are separate from the State’s on-going case against Morgan. ....
