Amid bidding wars that pushed prices up by more than 20 percent in many instances, some 10,465 homes sold in Connecticut in the first three months of 2021 — a 23 percent increase from the same period a year ago.
Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices New England Properties released the figures over the weekend on a preliminary basis. The number could increase, as contracts are logged from the back half of last week.

The Greenwich investment firm that owns Hungry Jack pancake mix and syrup is adding to its breakfast lineup by acquiring De Wafelbakkers, which sells frozen pancakes, waffles and French toast nationwide, including in Connecticut chains like Stop & Shop, ShopRite, Big Y and Acme.
Brynwood Partners did not state what it paid for De Wafelbakkers, with the manufacturer employing 650 people at its headquarters plant in North Little Rock, Ark. and another facility outside Atlanta.

Subway’s new CEO is moving some corporate staff to an office in the Miami-area where he lives, raising questions about the company’s Milford headquarters.
Subway confirmed it will move an unspecified number of Milford staff south, including managers in marketing, culinary and global strategy.
