ALEXANDRIA, VA — Virginia State Police say a woman involved in a gunshots incident in Old Town Alexandria was taken into custody Wednesday.
Around 3:09 p.m., a special agent in the area of King Street near the Alexandria Courthouse heard a gun being fired. State police say the woman was seen with a gun walking toward an SUV and fled in the vehicle.
The special agent followed the SUV, and a state trooper responded to assist. As the suspect vehicle headed on the George Washington Memorial Parkway toward DC, the state trooper activated his emergency lights and siren to pull the vehicle over. The SUV pulled over on the parkway shoulder inside DC between the 14th Street Bridge and Key Bridge, and the 46-year-old Maryland woman was taken into custody. Custody was transferred to U.S. Park Police, who have jurisdiction on the parkway.
