Cape Town – In thanking the many people who have paid tribute to his late partner and Cape Town-born entertainer Alvon Collison, Faried Swartz, in an emotional video, said he had lost the love of his life.
Collison died at his Milnerton home on Friday at the age of 79.
He had been on dialysis for the past five years and had also suffered from back pain.
In a video posted on social media, Swartz, in song, told of his dying love for Collison. He encouraged people to tell their loved ones how much they meant to them as often as they could.

Baxter Theatre marketing manager, Fahiem Stellenboom pays tribute to veteran entertainer Alvon Collison.
Collison has been a household name since breaking into showbiz in 1974, most famously known as the 'King of Cabaret' for his award-winning performance as Pharaoh in the musical stage production of Joseph and The Technicolor Dreamcoat, says CapeTalk presenter Sara-Jayne King.

Stellenboom says he was lucky enough to be at the Fleur Du Cape Theatre Awards ceremony in Johannesburg.

Theatre legend Alvon Collison died on Saturday at the age of 79.

The ‘King of Cabaret’ Alvon Collison, who played Pharaoh in more than 3,000 performances of the acclaimed theatre production Joseph and the Technicolour Dreamcoat, died on Saturday.
The 79-year-old was awarded a lifetime achievement award at the Fleur du Cap Theatre Awards in 2018.
Collison was born in Woodstock, Cape Town, and broke into mainstream theatre in the then Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) before touring across SA through Joseph and the Technicolour Dreamcoat.  
In a Cape Talk interview with Baxter Theatre, marketing manager Fahiem Stellenboom said Collison struggled with diabetes.

Cape Town - Legendary Cape Town entertainer Alvon Collison died at his Milnerton home on Friday evening; he was 79 years old.
Collison had been on dialysis for the past five years and had also suffered from crippling back pain.
He is survived by his partner, Faried Swartz, his sister Novla and two nieces and nephews.
Collison’s career spanned five decades, which included his standout performance as the Pharaoh in the 1970s production of
Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.
In 2016 he was honoured with a Naledi Lifetime Achievement Award.
