Shortage of vaccine, test reagents hits COVID-19 treatment plan

The second wave of COVID -19 is raging through the State and the district, and at this juncture, the district is facing an acute shortage of vaccines and due to deficiency of reagents the numbers of tests per day also have been reduced.
In this month so far, the district has recorded over 6,700 cases, averaging over 350 cases per day. The second wave is now full blown and on an average about 20% of the tests are turning out to be positives, said district COVID Special Officer and Principal of Andhra Medical College P.V. Sudhakar. At this juncture, when the only panacea is said to be mass inoculation, the programme is hit by shortage of doses.

Andhra University to organise three-day online workshop from February 22

The Department of Civil Engineering, Andhra University College of Engineering, will be organising a three-day online workshop on ‘Urban Stormwater Management’ under TEQIP Phase - III from February 22 to 24. During the workshop, Rao S. Govindaraju, Professor at Purdue University and Visiting Professor in the Dept. of Civil Engineering, Andhra University, Nagesh Kumar, IISc Bangalore, and several others will deliver lectures. AU Vice-Chancellor P.V.G.D. Prasad Reddy and A.U. College of Engineering Principal P. Srinivasa Rao released the brochure of the workshop here on Tuesday. More than 200 participants are expected to participate in the workshop.

The plan of having a state-of-the-art incubation centre at Andhra University College of Engineering is gaining pace and is likely to go operational by February 15 next year.
It has been decided to name the incubation centre as Andhra University Next Tech Gen and according to the Vice-Chancellor P.V.G.D. Prasad Reddy, former ITAAP president Ravi Eswarapu has been appointed as CEO of the incubation centre.
