A Tyne Valley town has been boosted with a grant for its local cultural programme. Hexham’s High Streets Heritage Action Zone (HSHAZ) has announced it will receive £80,000 from Historic England – one of 60 high streets in the country to do so. The funding will be used on a pilot project named Animating Hexham, working with several artists and the local community. Hexham's shopping scene will be inspired by a series of animations. HEXHAM’S rich history is to be celebrated in a series of animations which will be projected in the town centre later this year. An exciting new pilot project has been announced by Hexham Culture Network, which will work with local artists and residents to create the animations, which will be projected across the town’s main shopping streets in the autumn. It is hoped they will help to define why Hexham's heritage is important to the community and what value the town centre will have in the future.
