Rocky Neck Art Colony will kick off the new year with “Up Close: Sketchbooks,” an exhibition of the work of Martha L. Swanson, open online.
The exhibit is open at http://RNACExhibitions.com. This exhibition transports the viewer through time and place through the lens of Swanson, RNAC’s former artistic director. The sketchbooks span the years 1956 to present, and demonstrate the range of Swanson’s artistic expression and a glimpse of her travels.
“Up Close: Sketchbooks” was curated by Swanson and RNAC Exhibitions Committee member Anne Marie Crotty. More than 50 images trace Marty’s travels from the Museum School in Boston to Finland, Italy, the American Southwest, Mexico and back to Cape Ann in New England.
