More than 2, 295 families affected by floods in Migori

More than 2,200 families in Migori and Homa Bay counties have been displaced by floods following heavy rains.
At Kakelo Kakoth location in Migori County, some 300 homes were submerged on Monday, forcing locals to move to safer grounds.
In Lower Karapolo,  60 households had been marooned by the floods while West Kanyuor location had 99 households affected by the floods.
According to Lower Central Kadem Chief Philip Orwa, areas around Kuja River such as Lwanda and Kuja were also flooded. ....

Efforts to identify the body of a middle-aged woman whose body parts were found dumped in Naivasha early last month have hit the wall.
Fingerprints collected by police and taken to the registrar of persons have failed to match any on their records further complicating the bizarre murder.
Some of the body parts were found dumped in the Kabati estate and the others near the town sewerage plant with investigations indicating that the deceased was murdered elsewhere.
Naivasha OCPD Samuel Waweru has called on members of the public whose kin was missing to visit the local mortuary and help identify the victim. ....

The Ministry of Agriculture is calling for a total ban on the importation of monofilament nets terming them as the greatest threat to the fishing industry in Kenya.
The ministry noted that the nets which are imported from Asia were sweeping away mature fish and fingerlings adversely affecting fish production in the country.
This came as the department of fisheries in Naivasha burnt nets worth over Sh8m that had been recovered from illegal fishermen in the lake. ....
