The Labour Party has thrown its weight behind calls by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) to redeploy the Imo State Commissioner of Police, Stephen Olarewaju. The party, in a statement issued on Saturday by its National Publicity Secretary, Obiora Ifoh, called on the police hierarchy to immediately rejig the entire police structure in Imo State. NLC President Joe Ajaero, who was in Owerri on Wednesday to mobilise workers for a protest over unpaid salaries in Imo State, was allegedly kidnapped by the police and brutalised.
