The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum has welcomed the intervention of President Bola Tinubu to end the political crisis in Rivers State. The governors of the opposition PDP stated this in a communique released after their meeting at the Oyo State Governor’s Lodge in Abuja on Tuesday. According to the communique signed by the Chairman of the Forum and Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, the governors said they “were alarmed at the recent developments in Rivers State and welcome the intervention of Mr. President to bring the crises to an end”.

  Security personnel on Monday fired gunshots and tear gas on the premises of the Rivers State House of Assembly Complex as lawmakers commenced the process of impeachment of Governor Siminalayi Fubara. It was learnt that tear gas was used to disperse some lawmakers and protesters after the governor stormed the complex to prevent his impeachment. SaharaReoporters earlier reported that the House Leader of the Assembly, Hon Edison Ehie had been removed from his position. Ehie was removed as the Leader of the House amid the crisis in the Assembly on Monday.
