The Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has accused security agencies of bias and “shooting at him directly” amid the ongoing crisis in the state. SaharaReporters earlier reported that security personnel on Monday fired gunshots and tear gas on the premises of the Rivers State House of Assembly Complex as lawmakers commenced the process of impeachment of Governor Fubara. It was learnt that tear gas was used to disperse some lawmakers and protesters after the governor stormed the complex to prevent his impeachment.

Governor Siminalayi Fubara of River State has warned that any attempt to remove him through impeachment that is not justified will be resisted. Fubara who spoke while addressing his supporters in Port Harcourt on Monday on the plans by the state Assembly to impeach him, revealed that he did not commit any offence to warrant impeachment. “Let them come out and tell Rivers people the offence I have committed to warrant any impeachment." SaharaReporters earlier reported that there was a crisis in the Rivers Assembly amidst plans to impeach Fubara.
