Sri Lanka police arrests father of three over 9-year old's murder

Sri Lanka police arrested a 29-year-old father-of-three from Atulugama on Monday (30) as the suspected killer of nine-year-old Fatima Ayesha who had gone missing on Friday (27) after a grocery run near her home and was found dead in a nearby marsh.

The European Union (EU) and Sri Lanka held their 23rd meeting of the Joint Commission on 25 January 2021, via video conference. This was the first Joint Commission under the new leadership in both the European Union and Sri Lanka.
The Joint Commission meeting, held in a cordial and open atmosphere wih the EU and Sri Lanka exchanging views on a wide array of subjects, reaffirming the deep cooperation ties and the willingness to strengthen the relationship between the people of the EU and Sri Lanka further.

LankaWeb – Man who spat at PHIs in Atulugama sentenced to 6 years RI

The individual who spat at health officials in Atulugama has been sentenced to 6 years rigorous imprisonment by the Panadura Magistrate’s Court and also imposed a fine of Rs. 10,000. 
The incident was reported on December 02, 2020 in Atulugama police area when two Public Health Inspectors (PHIs) and two public servants had visited the area to perform their duties. 
However, they were obstructed by a person, who had been identified as Covid-19 infected, who had proceeded to spit on the face of one of the PHIs. 
Thereafter police had initiated investigations and after the treatment period of the accused was completed, he was charged in the Panadura court.

Only 22 out of 400 people were present from Marawa area in Atulugama, Bandaragama today for PCR and Rapid Antigen tests, Bandaragama Additional Health Officer Dr. Srimali Amarasinghe said.
She said Marawa area was chosen to conduct PCR and Rapid Antigen Tests, as more than 2,800 people are living in that area.
We went to Marawa escorted by army and police personnel,” she said. 
Our target was to conduct 400 PCR and 300 Rapid Antigen Tests, unfortunately, only 22 people turned up for tests, she said.
Following the Rapid Antigen tests performed today on the 22 people who were present, two were tested COVID-19 positive, Dr. Amarasinghe said.
