No charges will be brought against the officers involved in the fatal shooting of a teenager at Austin-East Magnet High School in Knoxville, Tennessee, the Knox County District Attorney announced Wednesday.
Knox County District Attorney Charme Allen, who also released security and body camera footage, said her office has reviewed all the evidence in the case. From the evidence collected, Allen said she would not be bringing charges against any responding officers because it was reasonable for that officer who fired to feel his and the other officers’ lives were in danger.

DA Will Not Charge Officer Who Shot Teen In School Bathroom

DA Will Not Charge Officer Who Shot Teen In School Bathroom
The Knox County district attorney said Officer Jonathon Clabough acted in "self-defense" after 17-year-old Anthony J. Thompson Jr. fired a handgun.
No charges will be filed against police officers in last week’s shooting death of a Black Tennessee teen inside of his high school’s bathroom after it was determined that the 17-year-old fired a handgun at the officers, giving them a justifiable fear of danger, the district attorney said.
“This is a self-defense case,” Knox County District Attorney Charme Allen, speaking at a press conference Wednesday, said of the April 12 shooting of 17-year-old Anthony J. Thompson Jr. “At the end of the day, we have found the shooting by Officer [Jonathon] Clabough was justified.”

Knoxville Woman Apologizes for Calling Police on Anthony J. Thompson Jr.

Law enforcement officials originally reported that before he was killed, Anthony shot one of the officers who had gone into the restroom with their guns drawn, but later they corrected the report saying the bullet that hit the officer didn’t come from Anthony’s gun and that the gun had gone off during a struggle.
Now, the woman who called the police in the first place—who turns out to be the mother of Anthony’s girlfriend—is apologizing for calling the cops, and says she never indicated that Anthony was armed.
