Aston Martin's customers had been clamouring for an eight-cylinder car for years, so Aston Martin designed a larger two-door saloon for V8 applications. The engine was not ready, however, so in 1967 the company released the DBS with the straight-six Vantage engine from the DB6. Two years later, Tadek Marek's V8 was ready, and Aston released the DBS V8. With the demise of the straight-six Vantage in 1973, the DBS V8, now restyled and called simply the Aston Martin V8, became the company's mainstream car for nearly two decades. It was retired in favour of the Virage in 1989. The ‘Oscar India’ specification was introduced in October 1978 at the Birmingham International Motor Show. Visually, the former scoop on the bonnet gave way to a closed ‘power bulge’, while a spoiler was integrated into the tail. Most Oscar India cars were equipped with a Chrysler ‘TorqueFlite’ three-speed automatic transmission, with wood trim fitted for the first time since the DB2/4 of the 1950’s. Just 352 Oscar India models were built from 1978 through to 1985.

Bonhams : Rare Unseen Early Works by Yayoi Kusama in Single-Owner Sale at Bonhams New York

Infinity Net motif. Both were created in 1960, and offered
each with an estimate of $3,000,000 – 5,000,000. These early works are exceptionally rare due to Kusama's use of the colour red - almost all her other works of this period are white. The third painting in the collection,
Untitled, is a very early example of Kusama combining vibrant colours and the scale of the work lends an immersive quality, something that foreshadows the artist's later work such as her
Infinity Rooms.
The eight works on paper, executed by Kusama before she arrived in the United States in 1957, are corner stones of the artist's practice, laying the aesthetic groundwork for her career to follow. Painted when Kusama was in her twenties, the works show the genesis of her

Footnotes
Inspired by Carroll Shelby's success in shoehorning a Ford V8 into the AC Ace to create the Cobra, Rootes asked Shelby to perform the same trick with its Sunbeam Alpine sports car. Ford's 260ci (4.2-litre) 'Windsor' V8 was chosen, and even though this had 'only' 164bhp on tap it was approaching double the output of the contemporary Alpine's 1.6-litre four. The transplant radically transformed the car's character. Assembled by Jensen Motors and introduced in 1964, the Tiger kept the Alpine's basic layout but featured a stronger gearbox and rear axle plus rack-and-pinion steering. Vastly superior to its Alpine progenitor in performance terms, the Tiger stormed to 60mph in under ten seconds and peaked at around 120mph. Sadly, the model was killed off by Rootes' new owner Chrysler shortly after the revised 4.7-litre Tiger II was introduced in 1967. A little over 7,000 Sunbeam Tigers had been produced when the final cars rolled off the production line in 1968.

Bonhams : 1973 FIAT Dino 2400 Coupé Chassis no. 5817

Originally delivered to the first wealthy owner in Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) through Sagers of Bulawayo in February 1953, little is known of this car during its time in southern Africa. It was not until its recent discovery by the current owner that its real identity came to light.
Jaguar chassis 669004 was uncovered by the vendor whilst looking for another type of car, more along the Mk. IX style. Land-locked Zimbabwe has the perfect temperate climate for keeping these cars in good order despite any superficial degradation. During his search, various other examples started to come out of the woodwork. A pristine Mk. IX then another from a tobacco farm north of Bulawayo. A partially dismantled XK140 was difficult to refuse and then whilst viewing this as part of a private collection, just visible in the long grass was the unforgettable shape of an XK120 fixedhead coupé.
