Buhari undermining Igbo officers for top security job in Southeast - HURIWA

The Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria, HURIWA, has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to stop marginalizing security officers from the Southeast in the hierarchy of the state commands in the region.
HURIWA called for the immediate reorganization of the hierarchy of State Commands of security forces in the South East to allow indigenes head them.
The frontline advocacy group lamented the deliberate scheming out of officers from the South East heading the states commands of all of the segments of the security forces.
HURIWA stated this in statement by its National Coordinator, Comrade Emmanuel Onwubiko and National Media Affairs Director, Miss Zainab Yusuf.

Why insecurity is deteriorating in the South East
On
By Ikechukwu Amaechi
WHAT could account for the heightened state of insecurity in the South East? This was the poser five governors and heads of the security agencies in the region raised when they met on Sunday, April 11, 2021 in Owerri, Imo State capital, during the first South East Security Summit. Many people are asking their own question: Don’t they know the reason?
While it will be a surprise that they, indeed, don’t know the answer to the riddle, it is not a surprise that the meeting decided to play the ostrich by approving as part of 15-point communiqué that “the acting IGP (Inspector-General of Police) and other security chiefs do invite the leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo and the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, to find out the reason for increasing insecurity of the Southeast,” while resolving “to maintain a joint security vigilante for the Southeast otherwise known as Ebube Agu”, with headquarters in Enugu.

When Chibuisi Okameme, a filling station attendant, left home for work on April 5, 2020, three dreams were his likely motivation: the need, in collaboration with his other siblings, to build a house for his ageing mum, the desire to get wedded to his fiancée soon and the burning aspiration to further his education which had stalled for a long time.

With the help of a soldier who incidentally was at the filling station at the time, the fleeing officers, attached to Ohuru-Isimiri Police Divisional Headquarters, were tracked down and mandated to provide medication for Chibuisi but it was late already.
He died shortly after being taken to Abia State Teaching Hospital, Aba.
Still on rough road to justice
