Government leaders and ruling party Mandarins have decreed this (or at a minimum, its guiding principles) to be non-negotiable. Those who oppose it, they warn, are destroying the country’s future, for B-BBEE represents not just a strategy for economic growth, but for socio-economic and political inclusion.

The objective of the B-BBEE Act is clear in seeking to increase the number of previously disadvantaged social groups to participate meaningfully in the mainstream economy through various interventions.
