Amaravati, March 16 : YSRCP chief and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Tuesday selected M. Gurumurthy as the party’s candidate for the forthcoming high-stake Tirupati Parliamentary by-election.
“M. Gurumurthy’s name has been confirmed as the YSRCP candidate for the Tirupati Lok Sabha bye-election by party President Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy,” a party statement said.
Gurumurthy, who has a medical background, walked with Reddy in his ‘padayatra’ before the YSRCP stormed to power.
The candidate announcement comes at a time when the ruling party is on a high with the recent thumping triumph in the urban and rural local body polls.

AMARAVATI: The YSR Congress Party (SYRCP) MLC candidate visited Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy at the Camp Office on Thursday. YS Jagan handed over the B Forms to them as six of the YSRCP MLC candidates will file their nomination papers today for one By Poll and five seats that fall vacant this year.
The six MLC candidates including Shaik Mohammed Iqbal, Karimunnisa, Balli Kalyan Chakravarthy, Challa Bhagirath Reddy, Duvvada Srinivas and C Ramachandraiah are set to file their nomination papers.
It is clear that the YSRCP has given priority to the poor and weaker sections as evident from the names of the candidates announced by the party for the six MLC seats in the forthcoming MLA quota. Moreover, the commitment of the Chief Minister to the promises made in the selection of candidates reflects the same.

VIJAYAWADA: The YSRC on Thursday announced the names of its candidates for the six MLC seats in the MLA quota and decided not to field candidates in the Teacher's constituency MLC election.
Speaking to reporters, adviser to the government (public affairs) Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy said that its candidates would Balli Kalyan Chakravarthy (Tirupati), Mohammed Iqbal (Hindupur), Challa Bhageerath Reddy( Kurnool), C. Ramachandraiah (YSR Kadapa), Mohmmed Karimunneesa (Vijayawada), and Duvvada Srinivas from Srikakulam.
