As the Maharashtra government extended the full lockdown in the state till June 1, the restrictions that already in place on Mumbai Local Trains will continue as before.
The Maharashtra government told the Bombay High Court that only frontline health workers and state government staff are currently allowed to use the services of suburban trains, the monorail, and metro trains amid the deadly second wave of COVID-19.

Restrictions on travelling in local trains to continue: Maha govt to HC


The existing restrictions on travelling in local trains, metro trains and monorails in Mumbai cannot be relaxed at this juncture as COVID-19 cases are still spreading, the Maharashtra government told the Bombay High Court.
State government's counsel PP Kakade told a bench of Justices KK Tated and Abhay Ahuja that only frontline health workers and state government staff are currently allowed to use the services of suburban trains, the monorail, and metro trains.
The bench was hearing a plea filed by the Cooperative Banks Employees Union (CBEU) seeking permission to travel to work by local trains, metro, and monorail services in the city.

Mumbai: The Bombay High Court bench of Justices Kamalkishor Tated and Abhay Ahuja was on Tuesday informed that the existing restrictions on travelling in local trains, metro and monorails in Mumbai won't be relaxed at this stage as COVID-19 cases are still spreading.
Acting government pleader Priyabhushan Kakade apprised the bench of the fact that only Frontline health workers and the state government employees are allowed to travel via local trains, metro or monorails in the city.
