Saudi Arabia Railways (SAR) has launched hydrogen train tests in the Kingdom, following the signing of an agreement with the French company Alstom.
Saudi Arabian Railways, in partnership with French manufacturer Alstom, will begin to operate the world’s first hydrogen-powered passenger train in Riyadh later this month.
Saudi Arabia Railways (SAR) has announced the launch of hydrogen train tests in the Kingdom, following the signing of an agreement with the French company Alstom. It will conduct operational tests and studies necessary to prepare this type of train to fit the Kingdom's environment, in preparation for its future entry into service. This will falls in compliance with the memorandum of understanding signed by the Ministry of Energy and SAR on January 20, 2022.
Saudi Arabia Railways (SAR) has recorded solid growth during the first half of the year with the number of passengers surging to 4.4 million passengers, up 84% over 2022. Also the number of train trips during the period increased by 46% over last year.
