Formed in Philadelphia, PA in 2013, the amount of quality work this band has produced in such little time is noteworthy.
It’s suspected The Replacements were on tour in the 80’s and Paul Westerberg had a memorable night with a fan in Philly. Nine months later, James Alex was born… destined to take up the mantle of creating indie pop nuggets of garage rock that shine with so much brightness and emotion, the heart feels as much as the ears listen.

Beach Slang have split after allegations of emotional and psychological abuse against singer Alex James were made by the band's former long-time manager. Alex has also entered an inpatient treatment facility.
The leader of the Philadelphia band known for their emotional, heart-on-sleeve pop-punk songs was accused on Twitter Jan. 5 by former manager Charlie Lowe of "constant emotional, psychological & narcissistic abuse" at the hands of Alex for what she described as "years."
Lowe tweeted that the persona Alex cultivated as "too-kind-to-be-true" hid what she claimed was "truly the most selfish horrible person I will ever meet." As a result, she said, she was diagnosed with C-PTSD (Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder) from how he allegedly treated her. In subsequent tweets, Lowe cursed Alex for "using me as his g--damn personal servant, on tour & not. For making sure I was always so financially f--ked with no other options. For being a textbook narcissist abuser. For making me feel so worthless & alone."

Polyvinyl Records, the label that signed Philadelphia band Beach Slang in 2015, will pull distribution of the group’s music after allegations of emotional abuse were made against frontman James Alex.
Last week, the singer was accused of emotional abuse by former manager Charlie Lowe, who alleged she endured “constant emotional, psychological & narcissistic abuse from James Alex for years”.
“Fuck him for using me as his goddamn personal servant, on tour & not. For making sure I was always so financially fucked with no other options. For being a textbook narcissist abuser. For making me feel so worthless & alone. I see you clearly now,” Lowe wrote on Twitter.

Earlier this week, the family of Beach Slang frontman Alex James announced the band's plan to break up in response to allegations of emotional and psychological abuse lodged against the vocalist by former manager Charlie Lowe. Now, Polyvinyl has begun the process of removing the band's catalogue in solidarity with Lowe and other victims.
The label offered a statement late yesterday [via
Billboard] explaining its stance on severing ties with Beach Slang.
"Polyvinyl stands in solidarity with those who have come forward about their experiences with James Alex of Beach Slang," the label wrote. "We have begun the process of discontinuing our involvement in the sale and distribution of Beach Slang and Quiet Slang releases. We have said it before and it bears repeating: Our company operates on the core principle that everyone deserves to be treated with fairness and respect. Active accountability builds safer and healthier communities."
