School closes, as snow touches down in Taranaki town for the first time in 10 years
It's the first time snow has settled in the region since 2011. Students Neive Rayner, Lily Single and teacher Ben Single made a giant snowballs, threw snowballs at each other and made use of the snow-covered playground. SIMON O'CONNOR/Stuff Pembroke School was closed on Tuesday, but some students still headed along for a play in the snow. It was the first time Single had ever had to make the call to close the school for a snow day. “It’s the best day ever,” she said.
