A 76-year-old Bend man has died after being the victim of a hit and run last week. Walter James Lane died while being treated at St Charles Hospital after being struck on October 27th. Bend Police continue to investigate this incident and are seeking public assistance in locating the driver and vehicle, which fled the scene after the crash, described as follows: Suspect vehicle: Described as being a dark colored larger SUV, possibly a Lincoln Navigator, Cadillac Escalade or Chevrolet Suburban. A 76-year-old Bend resident is in critical condition following a hit and run crash Thursday night on Bend's westside. According to Bend PD: On Thursday, October 27th at 9:31 pm, Bend Police responded to a male down with injury at the NW Newport and NW 14th St round-a-bout. Investigation revealed the severely injured male was the victim of a Felony Hit and Run motor vehicle crash. At approximately 04:30 Thursday morning, Redmond Fire and Rescue crews were called to the 5500 block of Harvest Ave for a reported structure fire. After conducting interviews and examining material evidence at the scene, fire investigators have determined that the fire was intentionally set. A driver lost control of his SUV on Wednesday night and crashed into the front of a Bend Fire & Rescue fire station. Firefighters were awakened by a loud crash which shook the two-story Station 302 at 64725 Cook Avenue in Tumalo at approximately 11:30 p.m. There were 3 firefighters on-duty and in the fire station at the time of the accident. Crews quickly discovered the accident and immediately began rendering aid to the male driver and female passenger of the Ford Explorer.
