Recently, a private 2-wheeler EV company announced the decision to end its free public charging service. While most 2-wheelers depend on home-charging, range anxiety remains the major reason for usage of the public chargers. Though the private players charge a higher rate than BESCOM, experts feel that many issues surrounding BESCOM chargers will hinder its adoption.
Gopal K, a resident of Bhuvaneshwari Nagar, expressed his astonishment, stating, “I was taken aback to discover that my entitled units were 56, and my bill from the previous month indicated that I had consumed six units more than the entitlement. This seems unjust, as even those with lower levels of consumption should receive more benefits.”
The residents immediately contacted the Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (BESCOM) for assistance. However, even 10 days after receiving the complaint, nobody came to inspect the spot, let alone do anything about it.
In most co-living spaces, tenants have their meters but they pay the management of the co-living space, who then pay BESCOM. The payment is made within the co-living space’s internal app where the electricity charges are listed separately from the monthly rentals. While some spaces issue a BESCOM bill for verification, in some cases, the bills are not issued.
