Bharat Bandh today: Commercial markets to stay shut as traders protest against GST, rising fuel prices
Over 8 crore traders from across the country will join the Bharat Bandh on February 26, while around 40,000 traders will also observe a strike.

The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) has called for a Bharat Bandh on Friday (February 26). Traders across the country are demanding a review of the provisions of the goods and services tax (GST) regime. It also wants the government to rectify glitches in e-commerce for preventing the violation of law by foreign e-commerce companies. Because of this, all commercial markets in the country will be shut on February 26.

Bharat Bandh: Check what will remain closed as traders announce a day-long strike on Friday

In a statement, CAIT the umbrella body which has called for the Bharat Bandh said that over 8 crore traders belonging to more than 40,000 trade associations across the country will observe the `Bharat Vyapar Bandh` to protest against some of the "draconian, arbitrary and critical" amendments made recently in GST rules. The CAIT has announced that all commercial markets across the country will remain closed on February 26.

CAIT gives Bharat Bandh call for February 26
The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) has given a nationwide call for Bharat Bandh on February 26. More than 40,000 business organisations across the country are fully geared up to succeed the Bharat Vyapar Bandh organized by CAIT against the perverted form of GST tax system, the traders' body said. It said that preparations have begun and the national leaders of CAIT from all over the country have made schedules for stormy tours in various states. 
According to the release, CAIT Secretary General Praveen Khandelwal will make all out efforts to reach out to national and state level organisation of Tax practitioners, chartered accountants, tax advisors, company secretaries, small scale industries, petrol pumps, direct selling, women's organizations, consumers, hawkers, film industries, food processing, mobile industries, various service providers to seek their support Bharat vyapar bandh. "Online vendors and all national and state level organizations related to economy and trade will be impressed upon to join the Bharat Vyapar Bandh on 26th February," it said.
