Rail and road transportation services are likely to be affected and markets may remain closed in parts of the country on Friday as farmer unions protesting against the three agri laws have called a complete ''Bharat Bandh'', even as it will not be observed in four poll-bound states and Puducherry.
According to the Samkyukta Kisan Morcha, the nationwide shutdown will start at 6 am and it will be in force up to 6 pm across the country on March 26 which marks four months of the farmers' agitation on Delhi's three borders -- Singhu, Ghazipur and Tikri.

In a statement, CAIT the umbrella body which has called for the Bharat Bandh said that over 8 crore traders belonging to more than 40,000 trade associations across the country will observe the `Bharat Vyapar Bandh` to protest against some of the "draconian, arbitrary and critical" amendments made recently in GST rules. The CAIT has announced that all commercial markets across the country will remain closed on February 26.

New Delhi, Feb 05: Amid the growing farmer agitation at Delhi borders, protesting kisan unions have called for a nationwide 'chakka jam' on Saturday blocking all roads across the country.
Addressing a press conference at the Singhu Border on Monday, kisan union leaders said that highways and roads would be blocked between 12 noon and 3 pm on February 6 (Saturday).
The mega rally has been called against the internet ban by the Centre, as well as in response to Monday's Budget 2021 that "ignored" the demands of farmers.
The kisan unions have announced that they would create blockades at various national and state highways across the country for three hours on Saturday.

Today's ICAR NET 2020 examination has been postponed from January 8 to January 11, 2020 due to Bharat Bandh. All the candidates may please notte that their examination centre and time slot would remain the same. Only the date of the examination has been shifted from today to January 11, 2020. Apart from ICAR NET, Utkal University has also postoned the university examination schedule today. As for JEE Main 2020, please note there is no update. JEE Main 2020 would be conducted as per schedule across the various centres. The exam has not been postponed.

New Delhi: A nationwide strike call has been given by Central trade unions on January 8 to protest against the policies of the central government. The strike is likely to hit banking sectors, including ATM services, as bank unions have asked their employees to boycott their work. Trade unions have claimed that about 25 crore people would participate in the nationwide strike.
The Bharat Bandh 2020 has been called against the Central government's recent banking reforms and policies. Among other demands put forward by the trade unions include a raise in the minimum wage to Rs 21,000-Rs 24,000 per month, stopping the privatisation of public sector undertakings, and the repeal of the Citizens Amendment Act, National Register for Citizens (NRC) and National Population Register (NPR).

Ten central trade unions have called for Bharat Bandh, a nationwide strike, tomorrow against government's "disinvestment, privatisation and labour reform policies". According to the Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU), which is affiliated to the CPI(M), over 25 crore workers will participate in the nationwide strike. "It has been over four years since any Indian Labour conference took place. The last meeting with the Group of Ministers was constituted to discuss a 12 point-charter of demands, took place in August 2015. Since then, nothing has proceeded," the Centre of Indian Trade Unions said in a release.
