Vijay's Master smashes Baahubali 2's record, achieves highest theatrical share in Tamil Nadu
Vijay-starrer Master has broken Baahubali 2: The Conclusion's three-year-long record and surpassed it in terms of theatrical share in Tamil Nadu. The Baahubali sequel had collected Rs 78 crore in Tamil Nadu back in 2017. Master surpassed this number within just 19 days of the film's release. The film had collected Rs 80 cr in Tamil Nadu, according to Yahoo Style.
Master was one of the first movies to release in cinema halls following relaxations in the COVID-19 restrictions. When the film released on January 13, 2021, the theatres in Tamil Nadu were functioning with only 50% occupancy due to COVID-19 regulations. Within 16 days of its release, the film was available on Amazon Prime Video. Master had even gotten leaked on privacy site Tamil Rockers. Despite all these factors, the film continues to be a success at the box office.

Tamil action thriller Master, starring Thalapathy Vijay and Vijay Sethupathi, will have its digital premiere on Amazon Prime Video on January 29, the streamer announced on Wednesday.
The film, written and directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and produced by Xavier Britto, released in theatres on January 13 during Pongal holiday.
