Pressure on African giants Ahly after surprise loss
Record nine-time CAF Champions League winners Al Ahly of Egypt face unexpectedly early pressure in the 2020-2021 campaign when they host V Club from the Democratic Republic of Congo this weekend.
An away loss to surprise Group A pacesetters Simba of Tanzania has left the Cairo Red Devils third in the standings, two rounds into the mini-league phase of the marquee African club competition.
Subsequently, under-fire coach Pitso Mosimane watched anxiously as Ahly snatched an unsatisfactory victory over lowly El Gaish in the Egyptian Premier League, which heightened criticism of his stars.

Slack defending contributed to Chiefs crashing 4-0 against Moroccan giants Wydad Casablanca in Ouagadougou and they finished with 10 men after Ramahlwe Mphahlele was red-carded.

Africa Oil & Power Conference / Press release | Angola's ANPG moves to make 2020 bid round more transparent

Angola’s ANPG moves to make 2020 bid round more transparent
The National Agency for Oil, Gas and Biofuels is granting access to available data packages for those interested in participating in the ongoing 2020 licensing round
LUANDA, Angola, February 23, 2021/APO Group/ --
Angola’s National Agency for Oil, Gas and Biofuels (ANPG) now allows those interested in partaking in the ongoing 2020 licensing round for oil blocks in the onshore Kwanza and Lower Congo Basins to consult the available data packages before purchasing them. The ANPG hopes this will increase transparency in the process, as intended by the governing legal framework. It will ensure that qualified participants engage with the necessary confidence needed to start the process and secure agreements at the end of the process. This will significantly reduce the risk of companies entering the process with many uncertainties. Interested companies simply need to register their interest with the ANPG either via letter or email, requesting a free data consultation session. The session can either be provided virtually or in person.

Roger Feutmba believes Mamelodi Sundowns are capable of maintaining their unbeaten streak in the CAF Champions League group phase even without Pitso Mosimane.
Last season, Sundowns made history by becoming the first SA side to finish the group stages undefeated where they had Waydad Athletic Club, Petro de Luanda, and USM in Group C with four wins and two draws.
As they prepare to start the group stage against Al Hilal of Sudan at Loftus Versfeld tomorrow (6pm), club legend Feutmba backs them to do well again.

Zamalek coach Jamie Pacheco reacts to Pitso Mosimane's FIFA Club World

Feb 12, 2021 - 05:34 pm
By Staff Reporter
Zamalek head coach Jamie Pacheco has congratulated Al Ahly after securing a podium finish at the FIFA Club World Cup and set clear ambitions for this season's CAF Champions League.
Pitso Mosimane and his Ahly side ousted Pacheco's men in the 'Derby of the Century' November to secure a place in the global showpiece in Qatar this month.
While Pacheco hinted there was a sense of good fortune for Mosimane in the final, he's now praised them for their efforts after their shoot-out victory against Palmeiras secured Africa's fourth medal in the history of the competition.
