Driver remanded in custody following fatal crash Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man following a fatal collision in Carranballac, east of Lake Bolac, on May 12. Detectives arrested the 30-year-old man of no fixed place of abode Saturday. He was charged with dangerous driving causing death and remanded in custody to appear before the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court Sunday. SES Looking For New Home 16 May 2021 | 05:42pm Port Fairy SES Unit left without a home, as current base is condemned Port Fairy’s SES unit has been left homeless, after their Sackville Street base was found to be an unacceptable safety risk. The Unit was informed on Friday that they would no longer be able to operate out of the base, due to a risk of electrocution and mould embedded in the building’s frame. Unit Controller Stephen McDowell, said they were now scrambling to find a temporary home for their vehicles and equipment. "At this stage we basically don't have a home" he said.
