JAMMU, July 26: Heavy rains lashed Jammu areas early morning today causing water-logging on roads and extensive damage to public property.
The authorities sounded alert in the low lying areas along river Tawi and Chenab in Phallian Mandal, Pargwal, Akhnoor, Jourian and Khour areas as the water level continued to rise during heavy downpour. The intensity of rain was so high during morning hours that in the short span of time the city lanes, drains and seasonal Nallahs were over flooded.

JAMMU July 12: Waterlogging at many places, garbage and litter on city roads and streets, dirty water gushing out of the sewerage holes, blocked drains and entering residential houses and shops with moving vehicles splashing dirty water on passersby and those on two wheelers, was all the City of Temples witnessed today due to heavy downpour which marked the advent of monsoon this year.
While the affected people questioned unpreparedness of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) which was supposed to de-silt drains and Nallahs much before the start of rainy season to avoid damages, the worst hit areas remained Gumat-Jogi Gate area, Rajiv Nagar near Bikram Chowk, Gandhi Nagar, Nanak Nagar, Kalika Colony, Bantalab etc.

The government last week launched the “Awaam ki Awaaz” programme, which went On-Air today on all channels of All India Radio (AIR) J&K. The telecast of the programme was also broadcast on DD Kashmir. The programme is aimed at seeking feedback from the public and giving them a platform to share their suggestions and views, thus making the process of governance more participatory. The first episode of the
Awaam ki Awaaz programme received a huge response from across the UT with people in big numbers tuned to their radio and television sets to witness the paradigm shift in the overall governance process of which “Jan Bhagidari” is the central theme. Since the launch of the web portal, suggestions have kept pouring in from people from all walks of life. Out of these, some of the suggestions received special mention by the Lt Governor during the “Awaam ki Awaaz” programme broadcast last week.

Principal Secretary said that under a joint venture between administration of Jammu and Kashmir and Tata Technologies (PPP mode) an investment of Rs. 361 crore has been made in JKUT to train the students in robotics, electric vehicle manufacture, industry professionals and promoting entrepreneurship. It was informed in the meeting that Centres for Invention, Innovation, Incubation, and Training (CIIIT) have been established at Government Polytechnic, Bikram Chowk, at a cost of Rs 181.56 crore and at Government Polytechnic College, Baramulla at the cost of Rs 181.57 crore. The measures are coming at a time when the dynamics of industry requirements are changing rapidly due to continuous advancements being made in today’s global technological era’, he added.

Amid pandemic private sectors offer jobs to over 5000 youth in J&K

Amid the pandemic, over 5,000 youth in Jammu and Kashmir have been provided job offer letters by the private sector during placement drives conducted in the year 2020, in different parts of the Union Territory (UT).
When the entire country, including the UT, was fighting the deadly Coronavirus, job fairs and placement drives were launched in J&K to provide employment to the pass-outs of different technical institutes.
"Multiple placement drives and job fairs were conducted last year and near about 5000 polytechnic and ITI pass-outs were provided job offer letters in private sectors", Principal Secretary, Skill Development Department, Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon, informed during a meeting to review the functioning of the Skill Development Department.

JAMMU, Apr 12: In order to promote invention, Innovation, and Incubation under the mentorship of industry pioneers and strengthen the ecosystem of entrepreneurship and skill development through Industry-Academia partnerships, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today inaugurated the Centre for Invention, Innovation, Incubation, and Training (CIIIT) at Government Polytechnic, Bikram Chowk established at a cost of Rs 181.56 crore.
Congratulating the officials of CIIIT Jammu and TATA technologies, the Lt Governor said that the promise that was made by him on December 7, last year, during the inauguration of CIIIT Baramulla for speedy completion of the Jammu centre, has been fulfilled.
