just throw an egg yolk on a canvas and say, china, give me another four hundred thousand dollars and now you get a lot of art from an egg. so hungry, raymond biden had. it is true at least biden had an inspiring easter message, though, for the nation. >> what's the message that you have used, dr. bipap, for our nation? we reach out to somebody, do something nice, a simple act of kindness. >> i mean, it's not complicated . well, i hope that uncomplicated kindness extends to the catholic service members and vets at walter reed hospital or just before holy week, walter reed canceled its contract with the franciscans who have been offering sacraments there for twenty years. the archbishop of the military archdiocese says walter reed issued a cease and desist letter to the franciscans. why not all of this jeopardies is the first amendment religious practice of our military members

we have a line of sight on every patient. there's a patient to the staff ratio that can exist with this population and the swiftness it's come. right now we have 33 ventilators. we have over 28 patients on bipap, plus or minus high flow. that adds it up to 50 patients. all the patients would be in a traditional intensive care unit. we are asking every nurse to step up and to be icu nurses, and we're working with a team method. with icu nirss, floor nurses to try to handle the acuity as it is spread throughout the hospital. in hospital can sustain that type of acuity. and so we need to react and just kind of spread out the level of care that we're providing. it is not optimal. >> you say -- it sounds like the system you describe, no system could keep up. we heard from dr. fauci, maybe

and they realize that oh my goodness, i'm on borrowed time, i think, and they're fearful and it's exhausting for everybody, both for the patient, for us watching them, and they don't get better. some get better all of a sudden, after, you know, having been on a bipap mask machine, this is prior to intubation, for days, a week, two weeks, and then all of a sudden they start getting better. but then some deteriorate further, needing mechanical intubation, ventilation and going on a vent and it's unfortunate. >> doctor, thank you for the work you're doing, for being here this morning. i'm curious what you've seen in terms of the trajectory of the pandemic in your hospital.
