香港電台網站 : 第三台|Backchat|The evolution of the book industry / Black-faced Spoonbill census

On Thursday’s backchat we’re looking at the evolution of the book industry
First, e-books and online retailers hit traditional brick-and-mortar retailers… driving out big players such as Page One and Dymocks from Hong Kong years ago.
But now, are even online retailers in trouble? The UK-based online store, Book Depository, is set to close down after being in business for almost two decades.
This comes after its parent company Amazon announced plans to cut thousands of jobs as it shakes up its businesses globally.
So what’s changed? How will it impact our reading culture?
After 9:45, we’ll look at the latest census on Black-faced Spoonbills in Hong Kong
Let us know what you think on our Facebook page, Backchat on RTHK Radio 3, email us

On Thursday’s Backchat we’re looking at efforts to attract doctors to Hong Kong
The Hospital Authority will send a delegation to medical colleges in the UK next month to
try to recruit doctors to help address the shortage of medical professionals here.
The health Secretary said the government would provide accommodations and financial
assistance for doctors who come to Hong Kong to work.
What is the current situation like in the public sector? How difficult is it to get doctors to
come? What factors need to be considered?
After 9:45, we look look at why more birds have been flying into skyscrapers here.

The New York Mayoral Race Has Become a Zoom Hell

The New York Mayoral Race Has Become a Zoom Hell
Intelligencer

David Freedlander
By the 90th minute of the Staten Island Democratic Club’s Zoom mayoral forum, Richard Flanagan, a professor of political science at the College of Staten Island and the event’s moderator, was getting confused: Most of the candidates had already left, and the index cards he was using to ask them questions were now all out of order.
“The field has thinned,” he announced into his headset from his Bay Ridge home, trying to recover. “I’m told the winner will be the person who stays on until last.”
