After new year’s speeches promising an increase in operations against the junta, attacks have been reported across the country.
Local news source said that the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) and resistance forces in Karen State attacked and occupied the Military Council’s Infantry Battalion 283rd and Infantry Battalion 32nd based in Kyainseikgyi Town on 4 January in the early morning.
The Karen National Liberation Army and resistance allies say they have seized several regime bases and killed hundreds of troops.
Incidents were reported in Karen State and Sagaing, Mandalay and Magwe regions; the deadliest cost the junta 90 troops as resistance groups raided its outposts in Karen.
Despite the ongoing battle against the junta, some ethnic leaders have accepted titles from Min Aung Hlaing.
