Moreh Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of Headquarter Inspector General Assam Rifles (South) has foiled cross-border smuggling of narcotics at Haolenphai village near Border Pillar 76, Manipur's Moreh, the official said on Sunday.
Under the instruction of the Union Home Ministry, the Manipur government said it has taken steps to protect the state from a possible large influx of immigrants from Myanmar.

"The people in Myanmar side uprooted the traditional teak border pillar and threw it into the river," the chief of a village in the India-Myanmar border said.
