Johnson City Man Gets 5 Years in Prison for Possessing Loaded Gun A Broome County resident is heading to state prison after he admitted possessing a loaded handgun on Binghamton s West Side. 21-year-old Tariq Johnson of Johnson City was sentenced in Broome County Court on Tuesday to 5 years in prison. Prosecutors say Johnson pleaded guilty to second-degree criminal possession of a weapon. Authorities had said Johnson was taken into custody shortly after a May 20 shooting incident at Saratoga Avenue and Delmar Street on Binghamton s South Side. City police stopped Johnson on Jerome Avenue on the West Side. Investigators said a 15-year-old boy was charged with attempted murder in connection with the shooting in which several shots reportedly were fired. The boy s name was not made public and the status of his case was not known. ....
