This is the valley skate and. It's where I radioed very much and I regularly talk about everything from politics to social issues and news of the day whether your old place or you're just starting your day. There says world i Radio all across America 86690 so. 333906690 right I He is there Colleen I'm very McNamara Welcome to the show you know when we talk taxes and the whole thing you know who pain who pays the taxes. That's that's always a discussion that we have had one question because it's been a a question for the 28 years and I've not been in talk radio the 28 years in 2 weeks and that question has been what is your fair share nobody has ever answered that question no no and 28 years of asking that question nobody has ever been been able ever answer that question what a fair share is. In fact when they when they actually poll people when they tell people what you know what should the rich pay they over undersell what the rich pay . Never see some of the stars when that when they actually ask people you know what do you think it should be the Office of Management and Budget the top 20 percent of wage earners pay 95 percent of all taxes. And it's pretty incredible when you when you look at this breakdown. And the director of the budget you know making a comment to. During this same conversation about you know the progressive tax and how when you when you give a tax to the middle class because we have a progressive tax system you also give a tax to the the rich right and so the the whole thing of I guess this discussion on taxes and everything else remember we last week we discussed how what was it 75 percent of Republicans or 75 percent overall in this in this one study I can't remember have to go back and get it but the overwhelming majority of one group saying we should do more to give tax relief to the poor. As the budget director points out here you know that there's on the low end not only are they not actually paying income tax actually getting paid by the government which we always know what it is and it doesn't mean that there are people that don't pay in that in that lower 40 percent right what it means is if you take them over all that group as if that or I guess that the end he broke it down into. 2 groups and they're basically 20 percent by 20 percent the Quintos are going tiles as they look at the again that group overall right and and there's the difference because of things like the Child Tax Credit or or whatever it might be you have some people that actually get more money and that that as we've said is welfare if you're getting more than you paid in right then there's welfare and so if you take the top 20 percent the top 20 percent in 2016 top 20 percent of taxpayers. Paid 94.8 percent of the taxes in 2016. If you take the as he said the top you know the top 2 which would be the top 40 percent in the top 20 percent quintile and then the 2nd 20 percent quintile they pay all the taxes yes. But that's amazing. And it appears to be a jump just based on you know what the o.m.b. Is saying from. Just a few years ago in 2015 the Wall Street Journal reported that 20 the top 20 percent of income earners paid 84 percent of income taxes and now jumping to 94.8 percent of those and 2016 Ok the middle quintile does pay a little it's a low single digits and they said almost all the taxes are paid by the folks in the top $2.00 quintiles right the last quintile paying almost of fully 95 percent I think of those. Taxes so it's a low single digits one or 2 percent right so any but that the top the top 2 paying roughly you know $99.00 point whatever it is of it and then the bottom 2 actually are a drain right because they're actually paid money over as a whole the group as a whole not that some people don't pay taxes. Because you know we get prisoners some response I mean that and I pay taxes now we're time of the group as a whole right. And so you ask you know what is fair and it's a question that nobody has ever asked they just scream that it's not going to be fair or that it's not going to be fair and that the rich need to be you know to pay more and so you ask how much more right right should it just be 100 percent of a great deal more money exactly well and there's there's the question because of of what it is that you're trying to accomplish. Because politically the idea is to make people jealous envious of people who earn more money the highest earners and then effectively what happens when if if that were to happen and it was a that source was a much greater revenue source for the federal government what has to be done with that revenue while anyone expect they're going to. Be more responsible with that extra money well no it's about redistribution it is about taking it and Ok well that and that's the government and the this whole read distributive mindset. Of saying well some people get paid by the government and some people you know pay a lot into the government and so we've we've often have that question but I think the general discussion. Outside the Beltway really has fallen apart because people really we've just bought in Oak line and sinker through that whole thing that the reps need to pay more of the reach rents need to pay more that's a matter they're never going to get specific they use is going back to where you started on this they use that fair share thing that's been going around for a long time you can't define that fair is to as defined by all parties involved and when we're talking about you know in the case of you know with with employers they need to pay them fair wages Well I'll decide what is fair for my employer to pay me and my and if I don't believe I fair then I can go I will work there exactly because who decides fair exactly because it can only be determined by all well we are in law look we know that the public and the public even liberals can define fair right because when it came out remember the $15.00 to $20.00 an hour how many calls do we get people saying Look normally I'm a liberal but a guy we're going to McDonald's is not worth $15.00 an hour right so Wow Ok so you do have then aim your mind that and that person would say look I'm making $14.00 an hour and you know maybe I'm worth 17 or 18 or $20.00 an hour but they're certainly not worth more making than what I'm making and they're making their you know the comparison so fair is different too. Yeah because if you haven't read about yet because if you think that that really is them acknowledging if I'm going to be paying across the board fast food workers $15.00 an hour because the government said so and not because of this massive wealth expansion then we're all going to have to pay a great deal more for the products that they provide well and therefore or on the other side of it the kiosks which friend of mine just was telling me about the other day goes you see one of the kiosks you know so so it's the elimination of those jobs all together eventually when those employers and keep in mind in fast food many of these are small business owners these franchise franchisees or small business owners they're not they're not the massive corporation while they may not be poor people they're not the massive corporation and they are going to do whatever they can whether they're big or small to curb those costs and they can only pass along to the consumer what the market will bear so you know those adjustments if if it turns out that we're not going to pay whatever it is you know more for a big mac in this case of McDonald's then they're going to have to make adjustments on the other end Well we told you about the non profit pizza place member in Boston Robert Kraft actually gave them money $100000.00 they went out of business after 2 years right they were nonprofit we're going to pay a fair wage we're going to pay a living wage to everybody and we asked is a what is a fair wage for somebody being unemployed but they closed down that story came out last week we brought it you know to your attention so you can all the greatest intentions in the world it means nothing if you can't survive in the marketplace right means nothing to anybody your workers you can't help anybody if you're out of business exactly let's go to Tyler New York City about the dollar welcome you're on right i Radio Welcome to the show. 8669 who arrive you want to join us. Am dot com to place number one this is k m j. 669-073-3390 extension 6691 I don't want to forget about Friday's economic numbers came out 3 percent in the 3rd quarter very very good. 3 point one in the spring and 3 percent now best of g.d.p. Growth for that for a time span like that in you know to have 3 consecutive quarter to me 2 consecutive quarters of 3 and 3 percent plus is the best in over 3 years so that's very very good news another sign if we have another positive sign I mean if you could if there could be another 3 percent growth rate or very and people are very optimistic about the 1st quarter about 4th quarter about Christmas shopping this year we're talking about consumer confidence right now so right that's a tremendous amount of of what goes into the the 3rd quarter and then you know the the destruction from the hurricanes are one thing but then the rebuilding can help also drive a g.d.p. In the 4th quarter so there is a there is a possibility of a of a very very good 4th quarter and as I said of the president in his 1st year we always saw those who were listening to the show if he can get you know a 2.72.8 percent in the 1st year and then he can get the tax reform that that he that he wants in the executive orders to get rid of these regulations start you know or are already working and there's confidence and he can have 2.72.8 the 1st year and over 3 percent in the 2nd that's huge specially going into 2018 if he can have a very robust beginning of of of 2018 that will help in the midterms Yeah because that's something that they can that's something they can promote just sit there and say that this is the best account and talk about do you want to go back to the Obama years or do you like 3 percent growth Right right yeah you like the economy booming right. Yeah that will be and that will especially when it's something that you can definitely detect in. Your local area when when you can see that going on in your local area that's something big when you feel that basically a home or a member of the whole at the kitchen table discussion thing when you feel that your own pocket book when you understand that yourself based on your anecdotal evidence then that's where it really relates political and what happens with tax reform because look as we have said over and over again we can speculate and things like that but if we don't know what the income parameters are and on the business side if we don't know what the effective tax rate would in essence be whatever the tax rates going to be and then what to Dutchman's or they're going to keep either going to keep expensing out still for the next 5 years and the expensing will stay they'll they'll just renew it in 5 years again they claim they won't I believe that they that they will so there's still so much we don't know about tax reform but the public comes out and the Blazers poll shows the public is not too optimistic but if you get the middle class looking at this because of the income parameters and the deductions and everything else and they realize they're getting back 506-070-0000 dollars a year or more right in in in their paycheck and the economy is booming those are 2 things Pacific you know we talk the whole thing the kitchen table you know. Yeah if you want to feel that f. You feel that you know that conversation. Talking about what you're feeling at home what you're you know what the anecdotal evidence is as I was mentioning on on all that what the effect of the the people is you know if they feel that economy growing in their and their own lives than that's going to be a resounding effect politically positive for the current administration and then if it maintains then if we find out the Bill Clinton is actually married to a Russian woman while still being married to Hillary and this is all part of the Russian collusion as we go into 2018 Yeah well it's going to be even though she claimed people think I'm not in the White House run things I'm in the White House I'm not in the White House well even you know that being if that when that news comes out now yeah that will I think that will just be sure lock. For at least one Republican I don't know about the rest of the Republicans with the president's going to fare with. The way I told you I'm getting such a kick out of just for some reason I don't do it for 6 months and all of a son a month I'm just obsessed with Twitter not not post anything just reading it and down the reaction the fallout home and the reaction from Michael Moore to President Trump hitting him on his Broadway show. Now it's just pure energy and he shows us here's my theater Here's the theater Here's a people doesn't look at any empty seats Michael right while he got a real good Michael your responded now aren't you. Well I mean it's just one more way to get yourself in the news as get into a Twitter war with the current president that he's going to oblige and get as much publicity as I thought it would over the weekend but I just I mean I was just rolling just dying left right over that war and it's funny because what really took on over the weekend what what was going on was the whole Mauler investigation thing and how to basically curve this back into the Democrats favor you know and and that's that's where it just became this bizarre really bizarre effort if you think about it with the Free Beacon thing and again we'll see if they have the other media of the liberal media wants to show that the Free Beacon was lying in their statement and that this was not connected to the dossier you know that is what they said that's what the Free Beacon said if they if the liberal media proves that it was connected to the dossier we got a different story well I'm asking for is at least a source story right worst your source story saying that they were involved in the dossier well in your 1st clue is there is no that's not the the action that's not the story that should be the story right and it's not the story right now if it were true if the if the liberal media thought there were any merits to that at all that's what the headlines would be that's going to point a bright bill at the Free Beacon but more importantly the big g.o.p. Backer behind the Free Beacon is lying and they're lying about this not being related to the dossier and and we have sources telling us that there are a lot I really think it's important that a god you know others get out there and lay it out as to why it's a concern not because of the dirty pool of political tricks right that the dirty political tricks were reversed here right right everybody now knows Ok and even Democrats they can feel are. Let's go to Pauline in Windham New Hampshire Pauline welcome you're on right i Radio Welcome to the show thank you so much and whether you had a storm here so that I could I. I basically I had a question when we were talking about when you were talk about the markets one my question was Doesn't this is something I never understood but doesn't the existence of billionaire signal market failure. And then my other you would have to. Question How would you come to that conclusion that having a billionaire means the market has failed in any way well a multi-billionaire So my argument would be it when he talks about McDonald's The c.e.o. Of the corporate franchise that has a 300 percent salary increase so this year so the question is is that is the market really working with supply and demand. He's on a hit that's not who you consider a multibillion or that maybe a millionaire or a billionaire or somebody like a Bill Gates who had nothing. And you know where and or you look at you know for example of you know Bill Gates and a Paul Allen they have nothing they're in a grudge next saying Next thing you know they're you know they're worth you know a couple of decades later $50000000000.00 Bill Gates Gates the richest man in the world for the for the for the longest time did the market fail because Bill Gates existed. I'm saying doesn't signal a failure of the markets in general that's what I went to that yeah I'm asking you how do you how do you come let's talk about Bill Gates because he's a billionaire you talk you were talking about the super rich should seem like he's a billionaire he's he's a billionaire what's the majority of his money. What something is your bill what's Bill Gates's wealth what says well we're not what I mean that isn't in cash has he hide it in his mattress. No no it's in stock tips it's in his own yes it's in his up most of it's in his own company so it stuck invested in his own company that made thousands of other people people forget about this that work with him from the very beginning millionaires and has employed hundreds of thousands of people probably in that in the time that his company has existed just using him or you could use Apple or any of these come probably over the course of 3040 years millions of people they have employed that have been able to. Have a family have a home have cars have a retirement because they produced wealth anything but it a billionaire show that a market is working. Well who employs the people what's the expansion of wealth mean to those people falling because we can set and point at them and say they have an I don't have what they have and that's jealousy and envy Let's talk about the real. But what's interesting when you bring up Bill Gates of the fact that Bill Gates actually touched on another topic that he spoke about that he believes that there should be a robot sex because when he talked about the nation he believes that millions of Americans will be out of a job very soon do automation and he actually asked for a robot tax that's another I guess we're getting we're getting to another with that's a topic we've had a discussion on already yeah by the way from a guy who creates robots to automate all of our lives. His entire business was about automation was it not at all made very clear is major hypocrisy there absolutely Ok and more I mean how than that we had to think about all those overseas factories that they're making all their equipment from my only my my question well let's go to a market it's all right let's let's look at that then because I think it was Forbes actually did it on the This was back on the i Phone 7 Ok when when when the president came out he was a candidate and said they need to manufacture it here and so they actually did Ok let's look at Apple's i Phone and it says it's made overseas and it's horrible when they actually looked at it and said Is it made in China no the the parts of it are manufactured to a complete Phone in China assembled assembled but those parts come from I believe what was said was it $28.00 different countries around the world from over $400.00 different suppliers from $28.00 different countries including $68.00 in the United States out of the profit of the i Phone Apple in the United States gets $0.50 of that profit. The the supplier to China gets about 25 percent of it and all the other suppliers which included the $68.00 manufacturers in the United States got you know shared the other 25 percent So America or you know I don't know where you could say we got you know maybe I don't 5560 percent of the profit and they were able to sell so many more because they had a supply system that made it all around the world that made it cheapest for people to buy an i Phone. Ok I don't I don't know enough about the i Phone and the i Phones I've been to. Just talking about. What you were talking about the expansion of wealth and remember we only brought it up because you did. Not want to have a conversation but but. But to get a 1000000000 or means you need to acquire wealth if he had if. He had if Bill Gates had 0 and then he's worth billions it means he created wealth he didn't take it from somebody else he didn't take your money he created that and I'm sorry I never thought I never thought I'd. Say that I'm not a great. My mind will ever just a moment where I know because I'm not accusing you of anything you said your 1st premise was based on the fact that a billionaire is proof that the market isn't working I'm simply. And that's what I was explaining to you the market is working if Bill Gates had 0 and then Bill Gates had $50000000000.00 because he didn't take that $50000000000.00 from anybody he created and expanded the wealth of the economy that's a good thing. How much are we paying for uncertainty so when we think about billionaires it's really you can talk about risk but you can't calculate uncertainty so my question is how can the free markets are calculating uncertainty which is what Bill Gates used to amass as well why are we paying so much for that I have no idea what you're talking about specifically. The idea that you can calculate a financial risk. Multi-billionaires come from this idea of uncertainty and that they're not able to calculate your You're not I don't know I don't know what philosophy you're reading we're talking about the reality of how Bill Gates made his wealth the reality but not enough not to be uncertain there's a risk right now going to uncertain. And amassing. What is not what is not risk what give me one endeavor that does not involve risk everything involves risk everything involves rest but every financial endeavor a risk that you can get. Into a plane I think I should say if you're going to change the way that people live everything and everything involves risk averse and anything that doesn't involve rooms if you're talking in terms of financial investment it's all going to involve varying degrees of risk Yes Ok And yes so. But my question is is that. Trial. Payback for what Bill Gates has created the empire that he has created seems more than what he what he should have been given because I'm sensing. I'm giving birth how about how about use this word instead of give and earn what he's earned but the people that work for him have also earned that. Wait a minute did they create the company. I mean there. Was that their idea. Well maybe I mean every single good idea right doesn't just come to one person so you know that in my own life everywhere basically everybody should make the exact same pay and that would have to go for every job and I did it well that's where I'm. Going to say now I think it's implying that the payback for what how do you know what everybody who is worrying is this who is who at Microsoft isn't working there voluntarily right who is Pauline to decide what their compensation should be when they voluntarily agreed to work for whatever they decided to work for I never I'm not saying any of that I'm just saying that I believe that I don't know what you're saying what you're saying Pauline it's not fair he was a billionaire and then some of his workers aren't making good money or making whatever money you think they should as you make you keep making statements and we try to analyze I mean you say you're not saying that but then you say it and so I we don't know where to go the payback is all about you know the response to the call we appreciate you know when you when you do what when there's that kind of innovation and someone you know invest their time and their education and everything into it there's going to be tremendous payback if the market sees it as such and so you're free if you don't like what they're doing or if you work for them and you're not happy with the amount of pay then walk away . And go do something else I really don't worry I'm never really worried too much about anybody who worked for Microsoft whether they were 3 don't think they're really it well because here's the question so he takes all the risk and he gets the greatest of the reward they get hired in a massive company and are told that they'll get their salary what risk are they taking They have no ownership so they're not taking any risks so you want them to get paid a greater amount for not taking any risk. See you say fair is this I say that's not fair fair is determined by the parties involved right and they can decide if they're getting a fair wage or a fair share of the wealth being created by their company they they can design and not you not you not you not me not Carolyn right. Now so if if if you decide if you don't think it's fair there's a couple of things you can do about if you don't work there you're also a consumer you can choose where to spend your money but with your dollar I encourage that and if you don't like their policy on any if you don't like the company because you don't like the logo. Vote with your dollar you're right we did do that there is there are things that we can all look at and say there are unfair and they're unfair and some may be fair and some may be overly fair but who gets to make the decision is there a sense for group to should do it or should it be individual contracts between individuals right and they'd Lorimer themselves groups of individual exactly whatever 866-907-3339 extension 60. 4 would get remark tomorrow and every quarter here's what I write. Things you can you know what you can expect how to interpret Robert Muller's new charges Well we don't know what the charges are yet right and he is saying that too he said usually the f.b.i. Goes after though you know huge organizations like the mafia or stuff like that he said you know terrorism and. Stuff like that and number 2 is don't hold your breath for collusion for all the talk of Russian collusion there really isn't a federal crime that matches what the press critics and Capitol Hill lawmakers have been calling collusion a word that refers legally to a narrow segment of the antitrust law. There's almost 0 chance anyone would be charged with treason a charge that's only available to use against enemies in a declared war so yeah and instead nearly all charges to stem from this case based at least publicly available tealeaves are likely to focus on targeting individual crimes reflecting aspects of the complex web of Russian influence in 2016 rather than the neatly tied up with the bow conspiracy early round charges may even likely focus on business dealings far removed from the questions of the 2016 election yeah I think I think it's a little because we don't because there is nothing there's not even an allegation of a specific crime as we have talked about all along here or even a potential what the crime could possibly be. Even with what the last week has brought us with the Democrats as we have laid out you can see and we've said you know the the the research the opposition researchers know crime their. Money their side of it it simply ties into the fact that what they were accusing Trump of doing it's important to know who paid for the Russian descent from a right. Because they were making that allegation against Donald Trump and in essence that's what they were doing the crimes would come into the unmasking in the influence that that dossier hand on investigation and the wiretapping of Americans that they were. Going Lee did that based on false information or as Trey Gowdy pointed out even if they didn't that would show this this. You know f.b.i. Or whoever was responsible for this for not vetting that dossier in the information in that but it does open up and give us transparency to those who were screaming collusion from Donald Trump with out a specific allegation to let us know it seems like the other party was actually involved what they were accusing of doing.
