India News: NEW DELHI: Seven BJP MLAs were suspended on Friday for the remainder of the Budget session of the Delhi Assembly for interrupting the Lt Governor's ad.
The BJP had said in its manifestoes for the 2014 and 2019 elections that it will implement the UCC in order to empower women, thereby adhering to the principle of gender justice.
Lt Governor V K Saxena's address to the Delhi Assembly was interrupted by BJP MLAs. He highlighted the achievements of the AAP government, including the installation of more than one lakh CCTV cameras. Saxena discussed various social welfare initiatives, efforts to curb pollution, increase green cover, and modernize the public transport system.
Delhi Assembly Speaker Ram Niwas Goel asked marshals to escort BJP MLAs out for repeatedly interrupting LG V K Saxena's address on the achievements of the AAP government. LG Saxena continued his address despite interruptions, highlighting various achievements in health, water supply, transport, waste management, electricity, pollution remediation, old age pension, cleanliness, Ayushman Bharat scheme, and hospitals.
