West Pharmaceutical is adding Lenoir County jobs through an expansion

West Pharmaceutical Services, Inc. will invest $50 million over several years to expand their manufacturing facility in Lenoir County, in return, the company will receive $500,000 in grant support. 
West s Kinston location is contributing components that are being used to fight against COVID-19. The expansion is in part due to the increased demand driven by the COVID-19 pandemic, according to a release about the expansion. 
“I’m so proud of our Kinston team and the role we play in significantly contributing to the health of the patients we serve around the globe, said Mike Fischer, senior director of operations in Kinston in the release. We look forward to being able to support our local community with more job opportunities as a result of this expansion, and are excited that this grant will help support a continued bright future for Kinston.” ....

N.C. Gov. Announces Nearly $13M in Rural Infrastructure Grants : CEG

North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper announced earlier in December that
North Carolina s Rural Infrastructure Authority (RIA) has approved 30 grant requests to local governments totaling $12,969,015, most of which will require either new construction or building renovations.
[These] Rural Infrastructure Authority grants help our cities, towns and counties address critical infrastructure needs like buildings, water and sewer so they can attract new, good-paying jobs, Cooper said. When we invest in rural communities, we are demonstrating that North Carolina is open for business with the tools and workforce to help companies compete globally. ....

Perquimans nets $1.69M in grants for Marine Park, biz's expansion


HERTFORD — Two grants to Perquimans County totaling $1.69 million are among $12.9 million in N.C. Rural Infrastructure Authority grants announced Thursday by Gov. Roy Cooper.
Perquimans was awarded a $190,000 Building Reuse Program grant for a 14,000-square-foot expansion of the existing facility of East Coast Steel Fabrication Inc.
The manufacturer of custom marine structures, buildings and boats plans to add 28 jobs in connection with the expansion. The overall project represents an investment by the company of $482,202.
County Manager Frank Heath explained that the existing 5,000-square-foot metal building had been built and sold to a boat builder but never used. East Coast Steel Fabrication acquired the building in July 2019 and has been in the process of moving its operations to the site from its previous location in the Hampton Roads area in Virginia, he said. ....

Mask-maker Sanctuary Systems creating 118 jobs in Wayne County


RALEIGH–Sanctuary Systems, a developer and marketer of fiber technology and nonwoven materials, will create 118 jobs at a new facility in the Town of Fremont, local officials said Thursday. The project brings Wayne County a capital investment of $4.9 million.
Sanctuary Systems, is a North Carolina State University start-up company. It develops specialty fibers and non-woven materials for applications in markets that include consumer products, beauty products, apparel, filtration products, acoustics, and health and medical products. Among its products are high-quality face coverings and other personal protective equipment (PPE).
“We are very excited to welcome Sanctuary Systems, LLC to Wayne County,” said NC House Majority Leader John Bell. “This project is a big deal for our local economy. It will bring good jobs and critical new investments to our region. I want to thank everyone who helped make it happen.” ....
