The lunch hour people were alerted first by sirens and then by their phones and then word of mouth that an aircraft of some sort had hit a high rise building. and for a while that's all we knew. turned out to be a helicopter that crash landed on the roof of a midtown manhattan building. it turned out to have killed the pilot. thankfully no others were injured. at the time of the crash there was heavy rain and you could only see up or down a few hundred feet. so that was the initially shock that someone, anyone was flying a helicopter in this weather. say nothing of the protected and closely wa...
