JOHN, B.C. – The Fort St. John Salvation Army Christmas dinner will be happening Thursday evening for those who access the emergency shelter or live in transitional housing. According to Cameron Eggie, Executive Director of the Salvation Army, the dinner will only be for those residents and not community members. They’ve also cancelled any volunteer participation from the community this year due to COVID-19 and the restrictions. FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – The City of Fort St. John is donating $2,000 to local charities for their Christmas hamper programs. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the City’s Annual ‘Toys for Tickets’ campaign was not possible as, in the spring, the City stopped enforcing parking meter violations to encourage shop local initiatives during the pandemic. Instead of collecting donations from parking tickets, $1,500 will donated to the Fort St. John Salvation Army’s Christmas Hamper program and $500 to the Peace Senior Connect and Care Society’s Senior Hamper program.
