(WBTV) - A grandfather shot his mask-wearing grandson who was breaking into his home in Burke County Thursday morning, according to authorities. The home invasion happened before 9 a.m. at a home on 38th Street NW, near Cape Hickory Road, in Long View. Officials say the grandfather did not know it was his grandson who was wearing a mask and invading his home.

Both suspects are charged with felony counts of breaking and entering, larceny after breaking and entering, possession of stolen property, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of burglary tools. Bond was set at $25,000 secured for each suspect, no court dates were listed.

Two Men Arrested in Hickory on Felony Meth Charges March 10, 2021 35-year-old Anthony James Hartsell of Rocky Robert Lane in Granite Falls and 31-year-old Michael Ray Walker of Cape Hickory Road in Hickory were both arrested by Hickory Police at about 9:25 Monday night (March 8). They were each charged with one felony count of possession of a schedule II controlled substance and one misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia. The two men were arrested following a traffic stop at a convenience store on 2nd Avenue N.W. in Hickory, just off of Highway 321. During the stop, Officers found 1.7 grams of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

He’s charged with felony counts of possession with intent to manufacture, sell, and deliver methamphetamine and possession of meth. Malone was jailed in the Caldwell County Detention Center under $10,000 secured bond. A District Court appearance was scheduled today (December 31).
