Liverpool asking price could scupper permanent Marko Grujic summer exit
Date published: Tuesday 20th April 2021 5:03 - Robert McCarthy
Liverpool midfielder Marko Grujic is making a strong case for a permanent move to current loan club Porto but could be hampered by the Reds’ asking price.
The
25-year-old joined the Portuguese outfit at the start of the season and despite struggling initially Grujic has found his feet in recent weeks. Indeed, the midfielder has started the club’s last four games, including both legs of the Champions League quarter-final loss to Chelsea.
His displays in those games earned plenty of plaudits from the club’s boss Sergio Conceicao, as well as Porto fans.

Iheanacho had scored more FA Cup goals (13) heading into Sunday's contest at Wembley – which was played in front of a small crowd – than any other player since the start of 2015-16, and it was his second-half strike which proved decisive.
Playing in their first FA Cup semi-final since 1982, Leicester had the better chances throughout, although Iheanacho's effort was the only shot on target in the entire contest.
It gave the Foxes their first win at the new Wembley in four attempts and Brendan Rodgers' side will now chase a second when they face Chelsea in next month's showdown.

Tributes have been paid to a dad-of-three who died after seven weeks in hospital with coronavirus.
Eric Ohene-Adjei, 46, was admitted to University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff with breathing difficulties in late February, after testing positive for Covid-19, and spent weeks in intensive care.
Eric's wife, Rachel, said it had been: "seven weeks of hell not being able to be by his side", until her husband sadly died on Saturday, April 17.

READING manager Veljko Paunovic says his side did not deserve to lose against promotion chasing Watford on Friday last week.
Two goals from Ismaila Sarr saw the second-placed Hornets take another step towards promotion back to the Premier League.
The Senegalese gave the hosts the lead with a curled effort and just under two minutes later made it 2-0 with a fiercely struck shot that gave Royals goalkeeper Rafael Cabral no chance.
The result seemed harsh on the visitors who dominated the game for large periods but could not find the net.

The former Wales sweeper aiming to be Fifa's new broom

Wales have come to be a force to be reckoned with in international football.
Their men’s team, led by galactico Gareth Bale, have qualified for successive European Championships for the first time, while their women have also continued their steady rise up Fifa’s world rankings.
Now Welshwoman Laura McAllister is aiming to make a similar impact, only away from the pitch in the game’s corridors of power.
McAllister, a former captain of Wales women turned professor of politics and sports governance professional, is standing for election to the Fifa Council, arguably football’s highest decision-making body.

Paul Pogba has attacked Jose Mourinho’s man-management style, accusing him of “going against players” and making them feel like “they don’t exist any more”.
Mourinho made Pogba the world’s most expensive player following his 2016 appointment as Manchester United manager.
Pogba was instrumental as United claimed a League Cup and Europa League double in 2017, but the pair had an uneasy relationship before Mourinho was sacked in December 2018 and succeeded by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Mourinho’s relationship with some of his players had deteriorated following  that first campaign and there were reports of a training ground spat with Pogba after the France midfielder player was stripped of the United vice-captaincy in September 2018.

Meite scores to save Reading from defeat against Cardiff City

The game started with both sides aiming to outwit each other but failed to convert the few chances that came their way in the first half.
With the game looking to end without goals, Kieffer Moore broke the deadlock in the 87th minute, converting from the penalty spot.
Meite then rescued the Royals from defeat when he found the back of the net moments before the end of the game after receiving a fine assist from Sam Baldock.
The draw helped Reading to avoid their second consecutive loss after losing against Watford in their last outing in the Championship.
The result ensured the Royals are seventh on the league table after gathering 67 points from 41 games and are one place below the play-off spots.

DERBY’S RELEGATION WORRIES deepened after Harvey Elliott’s strike condemned them to a damaging 2-1 defeat at Blackburn, while Reading’s outside chances of reaching the Championship play-offs suffered a setback when they were held to a late 1-1 draw by Mick McCarthy’s Cardiff City at the Madejski Stadium.
Wayne Rooney’s Derby side went ahead against the only team in worse form in the last six games when former Rovers loanee Tom Lawrence headed in from close range.

The Sooner This Drab Season Finishes The Better - Notes for Cardiff
Tuesday, 14th Apr 2015 05:00 by HarryFromBath
HarryfromBath assesses the mood in the opposition camp ahead of Tuesday evening’s game by delving into their forums.
“The end of the season cannot come quickly enough and it looks like the players are on their holidays. The squad needs a massive overhaul in the summer”, “This is going to be a brutal summer of rebuilding, but this squad has failed dismally and needs to be broken up.”
The Bluebirds arrive at Portman Road on Tuesday night on a hit-and-miss run of form which typifies their solid mid-table position. Their win on Saturday at Elland Road stretched their unbeaten away run to seven games but they were handed a 3-0 beating at home to Bolton on Easter Monday.
