All the members who were back home in their district, lots and lots of people got in and said, no, let's stand firm. let's show the senate that we can take the upper hand. i don't think that was his real desire but it was almost like a mutiny. a lot of people said, this is what we want to do. how dare the senate vote on their bill and leave town and not go to a conference committee where we can compromise. so, i think that was a weakness. but it also is a strength. that strength is that everybody gets their opportunity to have a s say. on the other hand, john is a smart guy, a hard-working guy...
