Tamil Nadu: Students-teachers demand cancellation of 12th boards

Students, teachers, parents and academicians in Tamil Nadu have requested the M.K. Stalin government to cancel the Class 12 board examinations taking a cue from the central government's decision cancelling both the CBSE and ICSE exams.
Muruganandam, a Physics teacher at a government school at Namakkal told IANS: "Children are under severe stress and anxiety and the government must take immediate steps to cancel the Class 12 board examinations."We can take the assessment of the past six or seven examinations and take the average. It is not possible at present to conduct an exam and postponing would lead to the suffering of next academic year and hence the solution is cancelling of examinations."A similar demand is being raised by students, who are studying under the state board.

While Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is yet to take the final decision on the class 12 examination, city-based schools and students are hoping for the shorter duration exams at school itself owing to Covid-19.

INDORE: While Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is yet to take the final decision on the class 12 examination, city-based schools and students are hoping for the shorter duration exams at school itself owing to Covid-19.
As the CBSE has planned to opt for either of the two options for class 12, i.e, regular exams for major subjects at notified centres or shorter duration exams at school itself, both students and schools are hoping for the later.

CBSE Class 12 Board exam 2021 is expected to be conducted as many of the states have favoured conducting the exam. Sources said that the CBSE class 12 date sheet and format are likely to be announced by Union Education Minister, Pokhriyal Nishank by June 1. The exam is also expected to be conducted from July 15.

Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal stated that an important meeting has been called to make a decision for the long-pending Class 12 CBSE board exam 2021. The exams were postponed as a safety measure looking at the critical situation of the nation amid the second wave of Covid-19.
Education ministers and secretaries from all the states and union territories are to be a part of the meeting. The meeting will be chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, while Union Women and Child Development Minister Smriti Irani and Minister for Information and Broadcasting Prakash Javadekar will also be a part of the meeting.

Will CBSE Class 12 Board Exam be cancelled? Govt sets up GoM to seek states' views
Class 12 Board Exam 2021: While lakhs of students are waiting for a final decision on CBSE Class 12 exam 2021, the Centre on Friday set up a Group of Ministers (GoM) to seek states' views and recommend whether it is feasible to conduct the exams amid the prevailing gloomy situation due to Covid. The GoM includes Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar and Union Education Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank.
The GoM is expected to decide whether the CBSE Class 12 exam should be conducted this year. It will send recommendations to the government after seeking the views of all states and UTs.

There has been a growing demand for cancellation of CBSE’s Class 12 Board exams this year in view of the surging Covid-19 infections across the country. Though the Board is expected to review the situation in two weeks, sources in the ministry of education (MoE) say there is likelihood of the exams being scrapped.

As the dates for board exams of the several state boards along with CBSE and CISCE out, students are now preparing for the Class 10 and Class 12 exams.
Many exams were postponed and bords cancelled few papers due to the COVID-19 pandemic and followed lockdown in 2020. This year also, although the exam schedules are out, many boards are making changes in the final schedule.
In addition to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), the CISCE and several states including Maharashtra, West Bengal, Rajasthan have declared the timetable and dates for the class 10 and class 12 board exams which are slated to be held in 2021.
