Parliamentary elections begin in Kazakhstan

Nur-Sultan [Kazakhstan], January 10 (ANI/Xinhua): Kazakh voters headed to parliamentary polls on Sunday, with five political parties vying for seats in the Majilis, or the lower chamber of the parliament.

Elections in Majilis kick of in Kazakhstan

The election process of members of Majilis (lower house) of Kazakhstan's Parliament began today, Jan. 10 at 07:00 (GMT+6), Trend reports.
The pre-election campaign of the parties participating in the elections of deputies of the Majilis of the Parliament of Kazakhstan to be held on January 10, 2021, began at 18:00 on December 10, 2020.
In 2021, five following parties registered in the country will participate in the elections to the Majilis of Parliament and Maslikhat of Kazakhstan: the Auyl People's Democratic Patriotic Party, the Nur Otan party, the ADAL political party, the Ak Zhol Democratic Party of Kazakhstan and the People's Party of Kazakhstan.
All the parties are registered by the Central Election Commission of Kazakhstan. There are 312 candidates in the lists of political parties. Among them, from the Auyl People's Democratic Patriotic Party - 19, the Nur Otan party - 126, from the ADAL political party - 16, from the Ak Zhol Democratic Party of Kazakhstan - 38, and the People's Party of Kazakhstan - 113 people.

MINSK, 23 December (BelTA) – A group of international observers from the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly (CIS IPA) and representatives of the Central Election Commission of Kazakhstan discussed preparations for the upcoming parliamentary elections in Kazakhstan by videoconference on 23 December. The elections to the Mazhilis of the Parliament of Kazakhstan are scheduled for 10 January 2021, BelTA learned from the CIS IPA.
Secretary General of the Council of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly Dmitry Kobitsky said that the observers had already embarked on long-term observation: they had analyzed the electoral legislation and were preparing reports on the course of the election campaign. An observation group will be deployed in Nur-Sultan and across the country's regions on 7-12 January 2021. On election day, observers will monitor elections at foreign polling stations in Baku (Azerbaijan), Yerevan (Armenia), Minsk (Belarus), Bishkek (Kyrgyzstan), St. Petersburg (Russia), Dushanbe (Tajikistan) and Berlin (Germany).

The Central Election Commission of Kazakhstan held a meeting, attended by representatives of political parties, Kazpravda.kz reports with reference to the press service of the CEC.
The meeting considered nomination and registration of party lists of candidates for maslikhat deputies.
Yerlan Dauylbaev, a member of the Central Election Commission, who made a report on the agenda, said that for the first time Maslikhat elections are to be held on political parties’ lists.
The nomination of party lists took place from November 10 to December 4, 2020.
The Central Election Commission allowed 6 political parties registered in accordance with the established procedure in the Ministry of Justice to participate in the regular elections of maslikhat deputies, scheduled for January 10, 2021.
