Modi has done more for the environment than any other PM in recent history. Unfortunately, most journalists and intellectuals do not give him due credit for it. Therefore, it is not surprising that almost all appreciation that Modi gets is from international bodies, including the World Economic Forum (WEF), specifically for the role he played pertaining to the Paris Agreement. Recently, Modi also received the CERAWeek Global Energy and Environment Leadership Award “for his commitment to expanding India’s leadership in sustainable development”, in the words of IHS Markit vice chairman and Pulitzer Prize winning author Daniel Yergin.

India Has Advanced the Target for Increasing Ethanol Blending Levels: PM – Advanced BioFuels USA


by Twesh Mishra (Business Standard) The PM also talked about the growing share of non-fossil sources in India’s installed capacity of electricity, rising to 38 per cent —  Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said India has advanced the target for increasing the ethanol blending levels from 2030 to 2025. He said this while delivering the keynote address at the CERAWeek 2021 through video conference. Modi was also awarded the CERAWeek Global Energy and Environment Leadership Award.
“There is growing acceptance of ethanol across India. Based on people’s response, we have decided to advance the target of 20 per cent blending of ethanol in petrol to 2025 from the earlier target of 2030.” Modi said that 5,000 compressed biogas plants will be set up by 2024 with a production target of 15 million tonnes.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday (March 5) was bestowed with the ‘Global Energy and Environment Leadership Award’ by the Cambridge Energy Research Associates (CERA).
PM Modi dedicated the award to the ‘people of out our great motherland’ and said Indians are leaders when it comes to caring for the Environment.
“It is with great humility that I accept the CERAWeek Global Energy & Environment Leadership Award. I dedicate this award to people of our great motherland India. I dedicate this award to glorious tradition of our land that has shown the way when it comes to caring for the environment,” PM Modi said while receiving the award.
