Amid rising cases of chain snatching in the city, the Amboli police arrested a chain snatcher, who had snatched a septuagenarian's mangalsutra from Andheri (W) while she was on her way to the market with her husband on Friday.
The accused allegedly confessed to snatching three gold chains from the women in Annapurna area, Malharganj and Aerodrome area. The police have seized 3 gold chains worth Rs 1.25 lakh from the accused.
According to reports, the youths were trying to run away after relieving a woman passenger of her gold chain. The incident occurred on Kranti Express.
According to the police, Krishna Sisodiya, a resident of Bhawani Nagar area, has lodged a complaint that he along with wife was returning home from somewhere on his bike.
