Huge protest staged against alleged blasphemy in Buner
June 30, 2021
DAGGAR: Thousands of people staged a protest demonstration against the blasphemy allegedly committed by an Afghan national in Sowari Chowk on Tuesday.
According to details, a 22-year Afghan national identified as Momin Afghani, who is owner of a tandoor in Shoba Market near the City Police Station and currently living in Riga, has attempted to use derogative words against the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) on Monday. Upon this, the local people gathered and tried to kill him.
However, the police arrested the accused and registered a case against him. The enraged people burnt tyres and threw stones at the police station at night to protest the incident. It was learnt that six policemen sustained injuries during the protest by the people. The news about the incident spread like a jungle fire and people from across the district started coming to the main business hub Sowari in the morning.

FNE Market Analysis 2020: BULGARIA - FilmNewEurope.com

Yana Marinova and Luiza Grigorova-Makariev in Wildlings by Martin Makariev
SOFIA: Critical for culture and film worldwide, the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 was equally difficult for the film industry in Bulgaria.
The first severe restrictions of social and cultural life came after the vote of the Bulgarian Parliament in favour of a state of emergency from 13 March 2020, imposing a lockdown for a month. All culture and entertainment venues including cinemas were obliged to close.
As a result, only days after the official announcement of its 2020 lineup, the Sofia FF had to postpone its 24th edition, which was about to kick off on 12 March 2020 and to be followed by the 17th Sofia Meetings.

Victor Bojinov in post-produzione con il suo secondo film, Chamla

Ivan Savov.
Producer Galina Toneva tells Cineuropa that the production was supposed to start earlier in 2020, but it had to be postponed because of the lockdown, although everything was ready. She says that the remote locations where the shoot took place were reached by travelling for hours every day with off-road vehicles, which was difficult but proved very appropriate during the pandemic. She also says that approximately 0.5% of the budget was spent on adhering to the COVID-19 health regulations.
For Bojinov, making the transition from a period drama about Bulgaria’s fight for liberation from the Ottoman Empire to a contemporary story was “natural”. “For me, what is most important in a movie’s story is what it is about, not the setting or the way characters are dressed. There are quite a lot of common elements, of course. In both films, the characters are young and in search of their identity.
